Looking for Partner Farming Communities to implement bioethanol social entrepreneurship in coconut producing regions

ImageBrillantes Campaigns and Statecraft Asia Ventures Inc. SAVI) partnered with a rural social entrepreneurship organization to help increase the income of poor farming families in coconut producing regions.

We are inviting Local Government Officials, Farmers Cooperatives, Farmers Groups, and Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries to spearhead this program on social entrepreneurship.

The business model is a convergence mechanism wherein about 150 hectares are mobilized per area to produce 2 thousand liters of bioethanol per day and benefit around 1,000 farmers per project site.  The bioethanol facility will be co-owned by the farmers themselves.  Development mechanisms include government assistance, financing through a loan facility for the bioethanol plant, and equity by Brillantes Campaigns, SAVI, and partner Foundations.

Our proof of concept is a pilot site in a coconut farming municipality in the Visayas already producing bioethanol since February 2012.

Salient Features of the Program include the following:

*FARMERS GROUP’S MONTHLY INCOME = P14,000 per hectare
*MONTHLY INCOME FROM FEEDSTOCK SALES = P11,000
*QUARTERLY DIVIDEND FROM PLANT PER FARMER= P800
*GOVERNMENT  FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR 11 MONTHS TO COVER CAPITAL OUTLAY LABOR COSTS=
